Farmers are the backbone of our land and future.

And it all starts with soil.

At Carbon Sync, we help WA farmers see their land differently.

We bring farm function and profitability together — soil health, water holding,
ecosystem resilience, stronger yields, reduced risk, and opportunities like carbon
credits.

Our role is to help farmers re-imagine what’s possible: a way of farming that
strengthens margins, landscapes, and rural communities — together.

From patching problems to building resilience

Farmers Do More Than Feed Us. They Care For The Land.

Farmers manage more than crops — they manage whole ecosystems. Every choice they make influences water cycles, nutrient flows, and biodiversity above and below ground. It’s work that shapes landscapes and supports communities — but for too long, it’s gone unseen and unpaid.

Now, that’s changing.

This critical work is now being recognised through carbon and ecosystem markets — finally reflecting what farmers have always known: that looking after the land holds real, measurable value. It’s a shift that couldn’t have come soon enough.

Across WA, the seasons are shifting. Rainfall is less predictable, dry spells are stretching out, and the old markers of success are getting harder to hit. Many farmers are seeing the signs: more inputs, more effort, but less return — and growing uncertainty about what’s next.

Often, the underlying issue is soil degradation. Quietly and gradually, it wears down the land’s natural function and soils lose their ability to hold water, cycle nutrients, and support consistent growth. The system becomes stretched — environmentally, financially, and socially.

At Carbon Sync, we work alongside farmers to turn that around. Not with shortcuts, but with a whole-system approach grounded in soil health. With the right support, farms can realise long-term value from the land they already know and care for — building resilience that lasts beyond a single season.

Systems that work as hard as you do

START WITH THE SOIL.
STRENGTHEN THE WHOLE
SYSTEM.

Functional farming is about building a system that stands the test of time – supporting you now and setting up the next generation for success.

Rather than chasing short-term gains, we focus on what truly matters: healthy soils, a whole farm that thrives, leaving the
land in better shape than we found it.

We identify the real constraints in your soils. Then we restore them and build life so your paddocks can hold more water, cycle nutrients, and grow more, year after year.

We assess where your farm is under the most strain — from yields and livestock management to erosion, biodiversity, and water. Then we design solutions that relieve pressure, restore balance, and strengthen the whole system.

Making carbon count

CARING FOR
SOIL FINALLY
PAYS OFF

The Australian Carbon Credit Unit (ACCU) scheme rewards farmers for building carbon in their soils. For many, it’s hard to know where to begin or whether the effort will stack up. With Carbon Sync we carry the risk and handle the compliance and admin so you can focus on farming.

What sets our approach apart is that the benefits go well beyond credits. As soil carbon builds, farms often see healthier soils, stronger water holding, and more resilience through tough seasons. The result isn’t just additional income from carbon credits — it’s a system that works better, year after year.

At Carbon Sync, we believe the real value lies in creating farms that are more functional, more adaptable, and more rewarding to steward. The ACCU scheme is an opportunity, but the bigger win is leaving behind stronger land and a legacy that lasts.

Farmers We Work With

Tony York

Tony York

Tony York, a third-generation wheatbelt farmer from Tammin, has faced decades of limited options, declining soil health, and little recognition for stewardship beyond growing crops.

Despite trying new practices and building resilience, he found few real rewards for looking after the land.

Working with Carbon Sync, Tony found an honest, collaborative partner willing to invest alongside him – co-designing a project that’s practical, long-term, and tailored to his farm’s unique challenges.

Now, he’s building a more resilient system and a legacy his family can carry forward, knowing the value of his stewardship is finally being recognised.

Glenn and Zoe Haselby

Glenn and Zoe Haselby

At Biara, north of Geraldton, Glenn and Zoe Haselby run a Santa Gertrudis cattle stud on light, sandy soils that are porous and easily worn. Years of pressure on the land left fragile areas exposed, demanding a new approach.

Partnering with Carbon Sync, the Haselbys are restoring resilience from the ground up. Virtual fencing technology now lets them manage grazing intensity, rest cycles, and stock movement with precision. Land once cropped is being returned to pasture, while long-term blowouts are targeted for reseeding and recovery.

For Glenn and Zoe, it’s about building stability — in the soil, in the system, and for the next generation.

Peter & Emma Wilkinson

Peter & Emma Wilkinson

At Wilandra, in Badgingarra, Peter and Emma Wilkinson are proving that farming resilience starts with soil.

Their mixed system, cropping, grazing, and leading Merino stud, is being reshaped through a soil carbon project that restores function, not just chases carbon.

With layered strategies like nutrient application, contouring for water retention, and cover cropping, they’re tackling the fragility of dryland farming head-on.

For the Wilkinsons, stewardship means investing in land that can thrive long-term, supporting both business and community. What’s emerging is more than healthier soils — it’s confidence in both the system and the legacy they’ll leave behind.

Dale & Penny Goodwin

Dale & Penny Goodwin

From their farm in Kendenup, at the foot of the Stirling Ranges, Dale and Penny Goodwin have seen how years of set-stocking and tough seasons can wear land down. Water stalled, soils slumped, and yields slipped — leaving a choice: patch things up, or rebuild function for the long game.

With Carbon Sync, they chose resilience over quick fixes. Subsurface drainage, deep ripping, and a mix of dual-purpose crops and summer-active perennials now relieve pressure, open pathways, build cover, support stock, and keep carbon where it belongs.
Goodies Farm also feeds the community, with much of its produce sold locally. For the Goodwins, connection is as important as production — rebuilding function strengthens both the farm and the community.

It’s about more than land; it’s about family, resilience, and leaving a stronger farm for the community and future generations.

How we make
a lasting difference

WA-based, on-ground support

Everyone who sets foot on your land has practical experience in farming systems, in soil and landscape restoration, and in drylands.

Proven experience in functional farming

We bring expertise in agriculture, soil science, and whole-system design, backed by a track record of successful projects across WA’s wheatbelt and dryland regions.

We carry the risk and complexity

Carbon Sync takes on the project liability, compliance, and registration, and also shares in the upfront costs — so you can focus on farming.

Build from the ground up

Our approach begins with the foundation – your soil. We co-design a 25-year vision tailored to your land and goals, so you’re always working toward something that matters for your family and your farm.

A whole-system approach

We help rebuild the ecological function of your entire farm, so carbon builds naturally, and the benefits follow.

Layer improvements for lasting value

Your progress isn’t one-dimensional. We help you stack practices that reinforce each other, making your farm more resilient, productive, and valuable year after year.

What farmers are saying

Glenn and Zoe Haselby

“Farming’s getting harder and profits are getting smaller, but if we can put carbon into the soil and grow more grass to feed more cattle, we’ll be more profitable. The knowledge we’ve got from Carbon Sync is second to none.”

Glenn and Zoe Haselby Biara Santa Gertrudis Stud
Tony York

“Being a steward and then managing the landscape is certainly one that we should be recognised for.”

Peter Wilkinson

“For me to do this on my own? Impossible. The time, the red tape — it’d be way over my head. Having someone local, who gets what we’re trying to do, makes all the difference.”
